Gave up in frustration. Never could print anything. Well installation is certainly easy, just plug it in. Printer drivers are loaded, but never could get the cable to work.
The only thing wrong with the one I got is it's not long enough. This cable works as it should and I would recommend it.
BUT, USB to the rescue. What a relief, I did not have to junk a perfectly working work-horse of a printer. There were no drivers for Vista and no parallel port on the new computer.
I went ahead anyway and ordered it from Cables to GO through Amazon.com. I am very happy with the results and highly recommend using an adapter cable to solve connecting an old printer to a new computer. When it arrived I plugged the parallel end in the printer port and the USB end into the USB port on the computer and voila it worked.
I have a new computer and an old Xerox laser printer. A computer friend doubted that this adapter cable would solve the problem.
The printer is in excellent condition, but with the above conditions it was absolutely useless. What a wonderful invention.
Since they don't tell you what error occurred and there are no diagnostics to find and possible fix something I finally had to give up and return the product to Amazon.I spent most of an afternoon searching for information on the HP Website, on the Cables To Go website, and using Google on the internet. I purchased this item to connect my HP Deskjet 1120C to my computer running Windows XP SP 3. I can't say if it will work for you but I would make sure and check return policies before you buy this product so you don't get burned if it doesn't work. There are apparently no other drivers available for my printer that would solve the problem or other information that I could use to make it work. This product may work very well with some printers but it doesn't work with my HP. I followed the instructions to the letter, installing the Windows driver for my printer to port LPT1 then connecting the printer using the cable and changing the port to the USB port. Unfortunately every time I tried to print a document there was an error.
started printing5. 4. Despite what it says in the instructions for Windoes, no drivers were necessary to use the cable adapter with OS X Snow Leopard.
Doesn't come with any Mac install instructions so here's what I did:1. used system preferences to add my printer (not the cablestogo adapter). I'm enjoying the use of my HP Laserjet 1100 again.
Add printer utility saw the printer right away. wrote this review connected laptop to printer using USB adapter2.
